Inadequate sliding gate piers track installation

If you are on a tight budget and decide to install a concrete base for your sliding gate track, make sure you know how to do it safely and correctly.
bad piers base installation can result from bad material selection, a lack of strength in the foundation components, and incorrect pier size.
The movement of the ground, as well as the traffic of the sliding gate, will force the track into the ground, causing numerous gate problems and causing the gate to lose its level.

For a sliding gate in the DFW area, the underground pier system is the backbone of the installation, so it has to be done right the first time. We start by digging deep piers along the gate’s path, at least a foot and a half deep, depending on soil conditions, and filling them with reinforced concrete to handle the gate’s weight and our clay-heavy Texas soil movement. A steel track is then precisely aligned and set into the piers, making sure it’s perfectly level and straight, because even small misalignments will cause the gate to drag or derail. Proper drainage around the track is also critical to prevent water buildup, rust, and piers shifting over time. If the piers or track are installed sloppily, the gate will constantly fail and need costly repairs, but a solid foundation ensures smooth, long-lasting operation for years.
